Welcoming in wisdom and compassion, our small group opens to the inspiration of Kwan Seum Bosal, translated as the one who perceives the sounds or cries of the world. Around the globe Kwan Seum goes by different names, Kannon in Japanese, Kwan Yin in Chinese, Chenrzig in Tibetan, Avalokitisvara in Sanskrit.
As we honor this Bodhisattva who resides within, we spend quiet time softly chanting her ancient name guided by a moktak, a percussion instrument used in Korean Zen temples, discussion and sharing, and drinking tea together as is done in the Japanese Tea Ceremony that Nancy studies.
