"we invite love and compassion which already abide within"
Kwan Seum Zen Tea
Welcoming in wisdom and compassion, our small group opens to the inspiration of Kwan Seum Bosal, translated as the one who perceives the sounds or cries of the world. Around the globe Kwan Seum goes by different names, Kannon in Japanese, Kwan Yin in Chinese, Chenrzig in Tibetan, Avalokitisvara in Sanskrit.
As we honor this Bodhisattva who resides within, we spend quiet time softly chanting her ancient name guided by a moktak, a percussion instrument used in Korean Zen temples, discussion and sharing, and drinking tea together as is done in the Japanese Tea Ceremony that Nancy studies.

Our small group will welcome in Love and Compassion as we honor this ancient Bodhisattva, Kwan Seum, who is Kannon in Japanese, Kwan Yin in Chinese, Chenrizig in Tibetain, Avalokitisvara in Sanskit. Kwan Seum translate into the "one who perceives the cries of the world".
We honor this inner wisdom which is our given birth right by drinking tea over looking the zendo pond, chanting her name, some discussion of waking this energy in our everyday life and walking to the Zendo Moss Garden to view a statue of Kannon sculpted by Lenore Strauss in the 70s.
